Marie is an environmental economist with more than 10 years of experience in corporate sustainability strategies, business planning, carbon emission abatement, carbon reporting and climate risk assessment. Her background is in the energy industry, where Marie brings expertise in renewable energy projects, green waste to energy production and carbon emission calculations. She has been working for Vattenfall, which is one of the big three energy companies in Europe, for 8 years on its journey to become more sustainable and achieve its organisation-wide carbon reduction targets.
Before joining APC, Marie has worked in the EY Climate Change and Sustainability Services Team in Sydney for 2 1/2 years on sustainability assessments, climate risk advisory, greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction fund assurance and alternative waste treatment projects.
As a dedicated environmental professional, Marie uses her corporate experience and project management skills to drive waste diversion from landfill and reduce GHG emissions. She seeks out recycling opportunities and implements tailored waste strategies for APC clients putting those in the context of a bigger picture of Net Zero Emission targets and Circular Economy.
Marie holds a Master of International Economics (University of Tuebingen, Germany) majoring in International Economic Policy, Public Finance and Econometrics. She has completed various workshops including Assurance and Audit, Sustainability Assurance Methodology, Outcomes Measurement, WMRR’s Developing and Implementing FOGO, Energy from Waste (EfW) and Circular Economy.
