Singleton Council, NSW – Singleton Council engaged APC to conduct an extensive community consultation program to assist in developing a long-term waste strategy. The consultation program was conducted between 11 July and 19 September 2012. It consisted of 10 focus groups, 151 web surveys, 1,457 hard-copy surveys, 400 phone surveys and was supported by a range of promotional materials, including information on Council’s website, articles in local newspapers, posters in community centres and radio advertisements.
Hawkesbury City Council, NSW – Hawkesbury Council contracted APC to undertake two community consultation programs into providing garden and bulky waste services to their community. APC developed a multi-pronged community consultation program consisting of telephone, web and written surveys, facilitated focus groups, prepared press releases and organised media coverage.
Dubbo City Council, NSW – APC prepared and conducted surveys of residents, facilitated public meetings and focus groups as well as arranging press and media coverage for the review and implementation of a new garden organics service.
Ku-ring-gai Council, NSW – To assist a public relations company in their quest for testimonials from households, APC undertook community consultation via telephone surveys and face-to-face interviews to ascertain community response to proposed changes in the waste management service delivery.
Hawkesbury Council, NSW – APC carried out a community consultation program for Council, including direct-mail survey, shopping centre displays and public meetings, to review proposed service changes.
Strathfield Council, NSW – APC conducted a community consultation program for a new waste collection service. The program included public displays, surveys, media advertising and public meetings.
Fleurieu Regional Development Inc., SA – With project partner GHD, APC developed a strategic waste management strategy for the three councils on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula (Alexandrina, Yankalilla and Victor Harbor) and Kangaroo Island. The project included extensive stakeholder consultation, research into landfill options, technical evaluation and cost–benefit analysis.
Waste Service NSW/Resource NSW – APC co-ordinated to assess a range of council communications strategies and resources including bin stickers, leaflets, calendars, posters and letters with nine non-English-speaking groups using translators at a St George Migrant Resource Centre.
