Debra has 20 years’ experience in the waste management sector. Her strengths are in waste management, stakeholder relationship management, business development, performance management and strategic planning.
Most recently Debra was Manager, Waste and Environment Services at Cairns Regional Council, Far North Queensland, where she was responsible for the business operations and capital works program for waste and resource recovery services and the environmental management function of the Water and Waste Department.
Previous projects include Oyster Cove Marina & Slipway in Southern Tasmania (audit, waste and environmental management plan), Cadbury Schweppes in Hobart (situational analysis, waste management plan, resource recovery operational systems and infrastructure procurement) and BHP Billiton TEMCO plant in Northern Tasmania (audit, waste management plan, resource recovery operational systems, transfer station concept design).
Deborah holds a Masters of Environmental Engineering and was awarded the Australian Churchill Fellowship for the international study of sustainable systems and markets for recovered waste materials in 2007.
